The Wipe Effect

The Wipe Effect will open your element like a "curtain", you can set the direction from this popup. The wipe effect will be performed right after loading the page or as part of a mouse effect.

The Nervous Effect

The Nervous Effect makes your element, text or an image "shake" nervously in a defined Effect Radius and Duration. Continuous will let the effect continue indefinitely.

PopOut Window effect

The PopOut Window effect makes your element interactive by providing it a handle which makes the element visible or not visible. Many people know this effect from Netscape«s homepage. The direction of the closing effect can be defined here, as well as the default state.

Collapse to border will close the handle against the browser window edge, instead of the element edge.

JavaScript Actions

With the JavaScript Actions of Challenger XT you can create interactions between objects and the user...

Challenger XT Animations

Challenger XT offers a graphical Animation Editor where you can create your DHTML animations using a visual interface.

Challenger XT is one of the first Web publishing tool to provide a feature that we call "Real Time Path Animation". This means that you can draw your path animations by hand, while the path, time and speed inside the movement are recorded and later played back on your browser window.

Interactive News Tickers

The News Ticker is a very useful tool for the making of dynamic, JavaScript based News Tickers. You can enter as many headlnes as you wish and they will scroll as clickable links. The user has a compact overview of what are the latest news on your site.

We have added 2 new box tools into the QuarkXPress palette: The Time/Date tool and the News Ticker Tool.

To create a News Ticker box, select the Ticker Tools from the palette and draw a box of the size you wish on the page.

The Fly-In Effect

The Fly-In Effect allows you to make your objects fly in from outside the page to the document location. Just select an object and click the "Fly-In" button to select the direction. You can use "Fly-In Effect" for text boxes and images. For more complex, time sensitive animations, you can use the Animation Editor.

The Iris Effect

The Iris Effect makes an object on your page collapse from the normal size display to disappear in its center or vice versa.

In this example we'd like to produce an "intrude" effect, that is to let an image grow from a tiny point to the fully displayed size. Herefore just select the wanted image box and choose the Iris Open item. The result in the browser appears approximately like the following:

The Blink Effect

The Blink Effect makes any object on your page blink in accordance to the following settings: The Blink Interval setting could be considered to be the most affective here: depending on this integer value the selected object will blink faster (lower value) or slower (higher value).

Selecting Disabled would switch off the Blink Effect. With the Continuous selection you determine the object to blink "forever" whereas the Timed selection sets the blink Duration to an equivalent integer value in seconds.

The Drag & Drop Effect

The Drag & Drop Effect makes any object on your page capable to be moved on the page by dragging it with the mouse.

To enable this effect, just select an image or a text box, then select Drage Enabled from the drag effect popup.

The DHTML Functions of Challenger XT 2.0:

DHTML means Dynamic HTML, where elements can have dynamic actions. Challenger XT provides a full set of Tools to create exciting effects, which would take hours to make by hand. Due to the "HexMac JavaScript Libraries", you do not have to worry about coding the JavaScript functions for your elements. Challenger will create them for you!

Challenger XT provides you a special palette, "DHTML Tools", which you can open from the Utilities menu in QuarkXPress:
Roll your mouse over the
buttons on the left...
