Description: DHTML and XML from Quark Xpress
Whew! Yes, Sean's back, and control has been wrestled from the hands of the interlopers. We know it was an ugly scene and we apologize for having to subject you all to the scene but we can assure you that butts are being kicked, heads are being hastily prepared to roll, and, damnit, justice is being restored. Tune in for coverage tomorrow.

But enough unpleasantness. We've got cooler things to talk about, and cool it is. Especially if you happen to be an old design geezer. A throwback. You know, one of those print people. Oh, the horror! We know that you probably aren't (print? what's print?) but we also know that you may know of one of these hopelessly backwards critters in your department or company.

Now you, Mr./Ms. HTML guru, have probably been feeling pretty dang smug ever since you tossed out your copy of Quark and started hacking in BBEdit or HotDog. Who needs those stinkin' page layout programs when you're designing for the Web? You're beyond that stuff, in the digital realm, ready to tackle the 21st century, right?

Well listen up bucko-- those print weenies still using Quark XPress might just have a leg up on you. Yup, if they get their hands on Today's Cool Tool, you might just find yourself staring up their big, desk-ridden behinds as they gallop past you to the land of DHTML and XML...without ever learning a lick o' coding.

But how can this be? You've tried so hard to get to where you are! How can these paper-lovin' geezers get the jump on you? With Challenger XT, that's how!

We didn't believe it when we first saw it, but it's true-- ChallengerXT lets you create dynamic HTML effects, zippy animations, and XML right from your Quark Layout! Just design your page, use the Xtension to add the DHTML you need, save and go!

How does it do it? We don't know exactly-- all we know is that ChallengerXT uses cascading style sheets, absolute positioning, and other nifty DHTML abilities to accurately render Quark layouts into Web pages, along with effects like nervous text, banners, irising, and fly-in/fly-out effects. All with no coding.

Don't believe it? Try it! And keep your eyes peeled for those oldsters back in the print department. If there's one thing this past week taught us, it's that you can't trust the quiet ones not to try to take over at the first chance...
