HexMac International has developed a tool called HexWeb XT which allows the creation of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) pages from within QuarkXPress and supports the storage of these pages on the Web-Server.
The XPress boxes containing the target article to be exported are selected in their natural sequence. The fact that only selected elements are exported has two advantages: the export of superfluous elements is avoided and the look of the HTML article is determined by the series of clicks in QuarkXPress.
Once you have initiated the export process by selecting the menu item "HexWeb Export", you are prompted to enter the year, edition number and category of the target edition. These entries can be chosen to be the default settings. Headlines and subheadlines can be defined should a table of contents need to be generated at a later stage.
After confirming your entries, an HTML page is automatically created on the chosen server. Any images or graphic elements contained on the page will be automatically saved as JPEG documents in the chosen directory. Links are established between these files and the HTML document.
Hyperlinks can be directly entered in XPress using the HexWeb Tools palette.
Typographic details such as font type and font size are automatically evaluated and reproduced during export..
The reproduction of styles even extends to typographic details such as hanging initials and left indents which are not part of the HTML standard. Header and footer elements that are repeated on every page
Header and footer elements that are repeated on every page (e.g. Company logos, Lines, Homebuttons, backgrounds etc.) can be defined in settings. These elements are then automatically exported with every page, even the full path to the logo files is updated in relation to the given folder structure. Thus, complete Web server structures can be created from within QuarkXPress.
The "HexWeb Index", which is shipped with the original package, can automatically generate a table of content file after all HTML articles have been exported . JPEG or GIF format image files for individual editorial sections can be integrated into the table of contents. It takes HexWeb Index about 10 seconds to perform the operations just described. If you had to compile such a table manually, it would take approximately 2 hours.
This page was completely created using HexWeb XT by HexMac International
