The Winners of Web Typo Award 97!

The german designer magazine PAGE and HexMac Software Systems organized the first Web Typo Award, the first german Web Typography contest in autumn 1997. The purpose of this contest was to examine the possibilities designers have when using Dynamic Fonts on Web pages. This contest was sponsored by APPLE Germany, which promoted the main prize, an Power Macintosh 8600 with Web Authoring Solution bundle. Other sponsors were Netscape, Bitstream and HexMac.

If you are using Netscape Communicator, you can see the "live" pages by clicking the thumbnails.

The winner of Web Typo Award 97 is Marc Klein. His work "Blueme" is using Dynamic Fonts in combination with Layers and Cascading Style Sheets. This is a good sample, that the Web is going to a direction, which will give designers lots of fun! The second prize went to Carlo Krüger, a font designer, who used Typograph 2.0 to create a beautiful font catalog of his own fonts, using Dynamic Font technology. Pay attention to the individuality of his fonts! Hans-Wolfgang Mielke from the Web design company "beyond-the grain" is using a combination of colourful design elements and Dynamic Fonts. Trixie is used to bring the old typewriter style.
