The first Internet archive for the Mac!
WWW Archive allows you to archive HTML pages, images in all formats, text, XPress pages and more.
An HTML form page allows you to define and launch an archive search based on special keywords, categories, full-text search, edition, date etc.
Upon completion of the search, WWW Archive generates an HTML page to indicate which pages, articles or images match the search criteria.
In order to further simplify later access of the archived documents, they should be classified with the "Distributor" utility. The document in question is dragged and dropped to the "Distributor", where the classification takes place in up to five text fields with up to 256 characters. An example: a newspaper article will receive tags indicating edition, category and editor.
Station WWW Archive indexes the contents of a specified folder. All files contained in this folder will be registered in a special index file, thus securing short response times during later search operations. Furthermore, Station WWW Archive generates JPEG thumbnails of image files in any of the standard formats. It is these JPEG thumbnails that the user will select to launch a search operation on the Web server. Text files, which can be coverted if you use the XTND system, will automatically be converted to HTML.
From within any Web browser archive, queries can be started by entering your search criteria on an HTML form page. These criteria are passed on to the Web server, along with the path to a CGI-aware application. The integrated WWW Archive Common Gateway Interface enables the Web server and the archive to communicate directly.
Archived files which match the search criteria will appear as hyperlink entries on the dynamically generated HTML page. Additionally, files with images will receive thumbnail pictures.
The threesome, HexWeb XT, WebStar und WWW Archive finally allows you to publish a newspaper or magazine using Macintosh-based tools only.
