HexBase Publishing System (HPS)
-The Corporate Online Editorial System
The HexBase Publishing System (HPS) is a online editorial and publishing system that allows corporate publishers to manage their editorial work flow and their Internet and Intranet content efficiently. To see HPS in action, visit Sport Channel, FOCUS Online, Net-Investor or Dagens Telecom website. To read more about the editorial system of tomorrow, click here.
The Dynamic Site
At Seybold New York 97, HPS was awarded with the "Seybold Editors Hot Pick".
With an increasing number of Web readers demanding up-to-the-minute information, faster content handling is essential. When electronic content can be updated quickly, commercial Websites and news providers attract more readers - and corporate intranet managers keep their staffing needs low.
HPS offers a full search interface for fast retrieval of articles.
A website relying on static HTML editors doesn't cut it. Content must be independent and flexible - ready to change rapidly while remaining fully organized and under control.
HPS allows an entire editorial department to work in a virtual network. No matter where the editor resides, he or she can check stories into the system using a Web browser. All that's needed is an internet connection.
HexBase Publishing System has been setting the standard in this part of the industry for three years. Several high-traffic sites in Europe and the U.S. are already publishing thousands of stories everyday. The open architecture of HPS - along with its tight integration of JAVA, CORBA, and XML - make it a secure investment for the future.
HPS offers you the choice of two content editors:
- Microsoft Word with Web database connection
The editors that use Windows Platform can use Microsoft Word inside HTML pages to write and edit the content. All essential features, such as spellchecker and table editor can be used. After the story is edited, the user can check it directly into HPS database server. The use of Word reduces the training cost of the editorial staff, since they can edit Web content with the same software that they have been using before.
- HexPad, the JAVA text editor
HexPad is a word processor with a database connection, written completely in JAVA. The applet provides a platform-independent, non-HTML text editing environment for the editorial staff. HexPad supports the export of written documents directly into the HPS database server, preserving the text formats and font styles used as a basis for dynamic HTML documents. Images can be uploaded with the browser into the system.
The system works for YOU - not vice versa
HPS is configurable. Each user can be assigned specific editing privileges, and unique workflow structures present no difficulty. Additionally, the system provides a solid platform for business to business and e-commerce solutions.
HPS texteditor is an Applet with database connection, featuring all necessary functions for news editing.
Automatic archiving and history of articles
Because all articles are saved in the database, the system can be used for online archiving - both internal and public. Users can search by year, issue, publishing date, writer, or by keywords. After a search, a list of all matches is presented, and an article can be viewed. HPS can also save the entire history of every article. Any previous draft can be fetched for processing anytime.
HPS connects to Print layout programs
If you want to create a print publication out of the content that your team has edited with HPS, you can use QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign as a layout application. The editors can fetch the stories out of the HPS Server through the Internet and place them with correct styles into the page.
